1. Get a nano-SIM with data — any UK network, pay-as-you-go. It's yours: your account, your choice of network. (Skip this step with Carspot Ready.)
2. Slot it in, charge, switch on — the tray pops out on the side. Charge by USB-C with the included cable, press the button. Three lights show power, signal and a fix.
3. Scan, name it, draw a fence — scan the code in the free app, name your car, draw a circle round your drive.
4. Hide it where you choose — not the glovebox, not under the driver's seat, not the boot floor. Try the steel frame under a rear seat, behind the boot side trim, inside a rear wheel-arch lip. Wipe the metal clean and dry, press on, give it a tug. Bumpers are plastic — use a cable tie there.

Carspot helps you locate a vehicle after it has moved. It does not stop a theft and is not a replacement for locks, an immobiliser or common sense.
